In 2018, the City of Grand Haven, MI, underwent a transformation to revitalize its waterfront stadium. Situated on the picturesque shores of Lake Michigan and the Grand River, Grand Haven is a cherished vacation spot, attracting millions of visitors each year. The old stadium, characterized by imposing bleachers that obstructed river views, had the potential for increased regular use; before, it was primarily only active during concert events.

Recognizing the potential to reinvigorate this space, the city partnered with Progressive Companies to embark on a project to create a community-centric gathering place celebrating Grand Haven and offering visitors a reason to linger and enjoy the waterfront. The newly designed stadium features low-terraced retaining walls covered in grass, reducing the visual impact of the old bleachers and enhancing sight lines across the area and toward downtown. It also boasts a permanent 1,146-square-foot band shell for performances, a versatile sports surface, and the capacity to add portable bleachers. Additionally, the historic depot building received a 1,658-square-foot expansion, enhancing its versatility for events and daily use. This renovation breathed new life into the heart of Grand Haven, fostering community engagement and scenic enjoyment.
