Completed in 2022, Progressive Companies designed Grand Rapids Community College’s Secchia Piazza to accommodate more guests and showcase students' journeys from the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education to various destinations worldwide. The piazza was a gift from the late Grand Rapids businessman and philanthropist Peter Secchia and his family, whose generosity and drive for excellence paved the way for the Secchia Institute's state-of-the-art facilities, top faculty members, and world-class curriculum that prepares students for rewarding careers in the hospitality industry.

The renovation features several innovative and challenging features, including a 31-foot-wide by 15-foot-tall cone-shaped skylight with colorful glass panels — serving as an iconic landmark in the skyline of downtown Grand Rapids. With a custom tondo flooring design by GRCC artists and a Live Roof system, the space is a shining example of what can be achieved through innovative design and a commitment to excellence. The Heritage Restaurant, a teaching restaurant for the Secchia Institute, also underwent renovations as part of project.
